Thank you for your
interest in our study. The goal of this study is to determine the effects of
differences in strength between the legs of people diagnosed with MS and how these differences may
contribute to walking impairments and increased fatigue.
This study will consist of two visits to the Integrative Neurophysiology
Laboratory located on the Colorado State University campus. At the end of the
study you will be given a $20 prepaid Visa gift card. During the first
visit you will be asked to fill out several questionnaires related to falls,
fatigue, and quality of life. You will also perform strength measurements of
the legs and hands, followed by a 6 minute walk test. At the end of the visit
we will ask you to wear a small accelerometer, much like a Fitbit, around your
waist for a period of 7 days to measure your physical activity levels. About a
week after the first visit, we ask you to return to CSU where you will perform
a step test. This test will have you step up and down on a box until you are
tired. Afterwards we will perform a Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry scan which
will assess your body for bone mineral density and body fat percentage. If you
are still interested in participating in this study please fill out the
following eligibility survey. Within a few days of completing this survey
someone from our lab will contact you, and if eligible we will schedule a date and time to begin your participation.
